The government of Kenya has partnered with OCP Africa to launch soil mapping project. According to the partners, the project aims to achieve enhanced fertilizer customization for the participants.
Soil mapping is a technique which has become usual within the so-called precision farming, which uses the most advanced technology to obtain the most accurate information about the condition of the soil, the weather and the crops.
Soil mapping
Mapping or soil mapping allows to know much better the composition, features and specificity of the agricultural land plot we are cultivating. It deals with the creation of a cartography that identifies every plot founded on parameters which have to do with the profitability of the farming activity:
The project in Kenya will have over 100 participants. OCP’s customization strategy focuses on supplying each farmer with the right type and amount of fertilizer for their specific soil and their specific needs. Fertilizer and soil customization has become one of the most important pillars of OCP Africa’s strategy in recent years, allowing the company to produce better results for its partners across the continent.
“It’s not just about bringing more fertilizer out there. It’s about making sure every single actor uses them wisely,” OCP Group’s Executive VP of Performance Management Nada El Majdoub said.
