GEA is repositioning its automatic milking systems (AMS): At EuroTier 2026 (November 10 to 13, Hanover, Hall 13, booth C25), the company will showcase the DairyRobot R9500 milking robot in the 100 Years Edition. As the first product in the Farm Technologies division, it adopts GEA’s corporate Kinetic Edge product design language, which has been gradually rolled out across the company’s portfolio since 2025. The refreshed design is accompanied by functional and digital enhancements, including a larger control screen, a new status display concept and improvements to the milking process. The optional High Udder Attachment Kit makes reliable attachment of the teat cups easier for large cows or cows with high-set udders. CattleEye will also become available for automatic milking systems, as will a Multifarm Management Module for farms operating across multiple locations.
Functional benefits complement the new look
The new appearance combines GEA’s clear design language with practical improvements for day-to-day work in the barn. Key features include a larger 18.5-inch control screen in 16:9 format with Full HD resolution, easier access to service areas and rounded contours. Together, these enhancements make the system easier to operate, improve orientation at the robot and simplify operators’ work. Further refinements to the milking process support a more consistent milk flow and fast, reliable milking. GEA is also releasing the new AMS Software 2.0 package, which brings practical improvements in milking performance, cow interaction and system stability.
The visual status display makes the robot’s operating status visible from a distance: An indicator in the upper section signals the status in green, red and blue. Green indicates normal operation, red indicates that action is required, and blue indicates a rinsing cycle, for example. Farmers can therefore see the robot’s current operating status as they walk through the barn.
With the optional High Udder Attachment Kit, GEA is also responding to changes in cattle breeding: Higher-set udders in heifers and larger cows place new demands on automated attachment systems. The kit expands the range of animals that can be reliably milked automatically and is available exclusively for new systems.
GEA DairyNet: Update brings CattleEye and Multifarm Management Module
In parallel with the Kinetic Edge design, updates are also available for the digital herd and farm management system GEA DairyNet. The new functions and modules are available for all GEA milking systems connected to the DairyNet Cloud. These include CattleEye and AutoDry for AMS, as well as a new Multifarm Management Module.
The Multifarm Management Module is designed for farms that milk and feed with GEA equipment across multiple locations and move animals between rearing and production farms. For the first time, it enables the digital transfer of relevant animal data between multiple DairyNet systems within the same organization. Data is transferred via the existing DairyNet boxes and the associated cloud infrastructure. This means the most important data accompanies the animal when it moves between locations: quickly, securely and without manual data imports or exports.
In addition, CattleEye will also become available for automatic milking systems. The AI-powered solution captures images of cows by camera and analyzes locomotion patterns as well as body condition. This enables indications of lameness or changes in Body Condition Score to be automatically detected, allowing farms to respond earlier and manage herd health, animal welfare and productivity more precisely.
Availability of AutoDry for milking robots is also being planned. The function automatically and gently prepares cows for drying off at the end of lactation: After activation in the herd management system, an algorithm gradually removes the milking unit earlier, allowing milk production to decline naturally.
Outlook
With the DairyRobot R9500 in the 100 Years Edition, GEA is introducing Kinetic Edge as the new design standard for all of the company’s automatic milking systems. The human-centered design concept combines technological innovation with a consistent focus on ease of use, ergonomics and brand recognition. To mark the anniversary, the first robots will carry the temporary “100 Years of Farm Innovation” lettering. The first systems in the new design will be delivered from the end of March 2027; installation is planned from April or May 2027, depending on the location.
