ETG introduces Belarus tractors in Southern and East Africa

ETG, a global conglomerate with expertise across various industries, has introduced the Belarus tractors in Southern and East Africa.

This follows a joint venture agreement with AFTRADE DMCC to import and distribute the range of Belarus Tractors in South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Zambia, Kingdom of Eswatini (Swaziland), Botswana, Kenya and Uganda.

ETGL has an established Automotive and Farm Equipment Distribution business in selected African countries, with plans to increase their footprint in Southern and East Africa. AFTRADE DMCC who represents most of the agricultural machinery manufacturers in Belarus, has good presence in the region and has successfully implemented comprehensive projects pertaining to the delivery of a full range of machinery and equipment, manufactured in the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, as well as the relevant technologies for agriculture, mining and road construction.

Engine outputs

Aimed primarily at large, commercial farmers, the Belarus tractor offers engine outputs ranging from 57 HP (42 kW) to 450 HP (333 kW) with open station and cab configurations. The manufacturer of Belarus tractors – Minsk Tractor Works – was founded in 1946 and supplies tractors of more than 200 models and modifications to 150 plus countries around the world. Or in other words, each tenth tractor in the world is a Belarus Tractor.

Vitaly Vovk, Minsk Tractor Works CEO, commented “Southern and East Africa is a strategic market for Belarus and our product range meets the expectations of small, medium and large private farmers. We have been exporting the tractors globally over 75 years and established Belarus Tractor as one of the leading Tractor brands globally, therefore we see no reason why we shouldn’t be represented in East and Southern Africa. We are confident on the performance of our tractors in the region.”

“This is an exciting opportunity for us to leverage each other’s strengths. AFTRADE can supply quality tractors up to 450 HP which meet the requirements of African farmers at every price point. For now, we are discussing distributing a wide range of tractors. Once this partnership takes off, we can also supply our mining and transport vehicles through ETG’s strong regional network” said Aleksander Zingman, head of AFTRADE DMCC.

Rajeev Saxena, ETGL CEO, commented “The joint venture with AFTRADE DMCC for the import and distribution of the Belarus tractor range will create more opportunities for the Group to delve deeper into the East and Southern African farm equipment market, serving a wide range of agricultural customers. We are also studying the feasibility for local assembly of these tractors.”
