The redesigned configuration accommodates white and sweet potatoes up to Ø200 mm, helping maximise fry length and throughput while reducing blockages. Simplified setup also reduces reliance on highly skilled technical operators.
FAM STUMABO has released an improved infeed chute for SureTec 240P, replacing the current standard infeed chute. The new infeed handles both white and sweet potatoes and guides the product into the drum at the optimal orientation. This helps processors maximise throughput and fry length and reduces blockages, particularly when processing sweet potatoes.
Greater flexibility for white and sweet potatoes
The new design increases the maximum product input diameter from 110 to 200 mm, while keeping the same large product length of 240 mm. This expands the range of potatoes SureTec 240P can accommodate, including larger sweet potatoes which often have a diameter of over 110 mm.
Long potatoes can be cut at full length thanks to the 240 mm-wide drum. The contoured infeed helps maintain high throughput by guiding the product into the optimal position for cutting. SureTec 240P is designed to produce clean, precise cuts while minimising product breakage and feathering.
Addressing the skilled operator challenge
Recent FAM STUMABO customer projects show that easier setup and consistent results are increasingly important to potato processors.
“Skilled technical personnel are becoming harder to find and retain, so processors need equipment that is less dependent on specialist operator knowledge. With SureTec 240P, we have taken away many of the traditional set-up variables. This makes it easier for operators to achieve a correct and consistent setup. The positive response we are seeing from potato processors confirms that this is a challenge they recognise immediately and that this approach responds to a real market need,” says Leighton Banner, Branch Manager FAM STUMABO UK & Ireland.
The SureCut Unit (SCU) addresses this need. Cutting components can be pre-assembled and the required cut size preset away from the machine. Spare SCUs can be prepared in advance and kept ready for use. Operators can then install the complete unit quickly, with less adjustment required on the machine and less risk of set-up errors. This simplifies changeovers and helps minimise production downtime.
Versatility across potato applications
SureTec 240P can process peel-on, abrasive- or steam-peeled white and sweet potatoes into flat, crinkle and deep-crinkle French fries, as well as dice and slices.
To support this range of applications, the machine retains other proven features of the existing model. A choice of impellers helps align different product sizes correctly before cutting. A slipper clutch and slip detection system help protect cutting components from damage caused by foreign objects and reduce downtime.
FAM STUMABO will present the updated SureTec 240P at Interpom in Hall 1, Booth 199. The exhibition takes place in Kortrijk, Belgium, from November 29 to December 1, 2026.
