Wacker Neuson South Africa proudly announces the appointment of specialist farming equipment supplier, Hekson, as its agricultural dealer in Mpumalanga, marking a significant step in strengthening customer support across one of the country’s most diverse farming regions. Through local knowledge and practical expertise, Hekson will align Wacker Neuson’s compact equipment portfolio to the realities of Mpumalanga’s diverse agricultural landscape spanning horticulture, fruit production, field crops, livestock, forestry, game farms and other commercial activities.
Eric Berrington, Wacker Neuson Regional Manager: Gauteng, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga, explains that the partnership stemmed from the objective of bringing Wacker Neuson closer to customers in the Lowveld and greater Mbombela (previously Nelspruit) area. “The answer was not simply to add another point of sale, but to identify a dealer with the insight, technical capability and customer relationships to recommend the right machine for the job and, most importantly, to stand behind that machine long after delivery. It was not about the size of the dealership or the number of brands it carries, it’s about whether the business truly understand its customers’ operations and can provide lasting support. With their proven track record in agricultural equipment sales, service and maintenance, Hekson proved equal to every requirement making them the natural choice. The partnership aligns Wacker Neuson’s versatile compact equipment portfolio with Hekson’s established agricultural customer relationships across the region and the dealership agreement concluded in the first quarter of 2026.”
Founded at the height of the COVID‑19 pandemic in 2021, Hekson emerged from determination, ambition and a deep passion for agriculture. The business began trading used farm equipment, an industry rooted in the upbringing and experience of founder and Director Henrik du Toit. “Through the securement of dealerships for new agricultural equipment across the Lowveld and Mpumalanga, we expanded our reach while strengthening customer support,” notes Hendrik. “To maintain high service standards, we invested in technical capability, employing a dedicated technician for repairs and maintenance. This service‑driven approach quickly became a definitive strength, building a reputation for reliable products backed by dependable after‑sales support. Working closely with the orchard farming industry naturally led to our expansion into the maintenance, repair and manufacturing of orchard sprayers, a service that remains a core part of the business today.” Hekson also designs and manufactures its own range of products to meet the standards of practicality and reliability that customers deserve.
Hekson will supply Wacker Neuson’s compact equipment range, with the greatest initial opportunities expected around excavators, telehandlers and wheel loaders, whose versatility is highly relevant to agricultural operations that demand year‑round support across diverse tasks. The Wacker Neuson 1445 telehandler exemplifies this adaptability, adding value well beyond its traditional application by performing multiple jobs instead of being limited to one. The strategy will be to help farmers see the full value of a machine by considering its role across the operation as opposed to just one task.
Hendrik notes that the Wacker Neuson brand has traditionally been recognised more for its civil and construction equipment than for its compact and agricultural range. “That is why we are especially proud to have recently secured the agricultural equipment portfolio. Having experience on the design and manufacturing side of equipment, even at a smaller scale, I can truly appreciate the practicality and impressive design of the Wacker Neuson line. We expect excavators and telehandlers to be best sellers.”
“At Hekson, the slogan ‘Performance by Design’ reflects the belief that impressive performance does not happen by accident, it is deliberately engineered,” says Hendrik. “We are very proud to represent the Wacker Neuson range of equipment for that very reason.” He adds that each product is built with performance in mind and that visitors to Hekson will see this commitment firsthand.
Hekson’s business has been built on a strong foundation of maintenance and after‑sales support, providing the ideal platform to develop the Wacker Neuson service and after‑market support across the product range.
Eric affirms that skilled service support is fundamental to the dealer model. “The purchase of a machine is only one part of the customer’s relationship with the brand. In an agricultural environment, where equipment often works against tight seasonal deadlines, access to service, parts and technical support becomes particularly important. Here Hekson plays a vital role, bridging global machinery with local service and customer care.”
Wacker Neuson’s South African dealer support extends to dealer service, specialist technical expertise and access to original spare parts. As Mpumalanga is not a single homogeneous market, stock decisions must reflect the customers’ varied requirements. Eric explains that based on the priority of understanding which applications and machine configurations make the most sense in the region, Wacker Neuson and Hekson will focus on product selection and stock planning. “Training is central to this process. Our responsibility as the OEM manufacturer is to equip Hekson’s sales and technical teams with the expertise to hold application‑based rather than simply product‑based conversations with customers.”
“The Wacker Neuson range adds a new dimension to Hekson’s established agricultural equipment offering, giving customers in Mpumalanga and the surrounding region access to a broader portfolio of compact machines backed by the support of a global manufacturer,” states Hendrik. “This is an opportunity to grow our presence in Mpumalanga, to re‑examine where Wacker Neuson equipment can add real value in agriculture and to introduce solutions to customers who may not have considered the brand before.”
“A great amount of work lies ahead to re‑establish and strengthen the brand in this sector and we are fully committed to the challenge. Our goal is to showcase the true German engineering, quality and reliability that Wacker Neuson is known for worldwide and to bring that value directly to customers. Ultimately, the true measure of this partnership will be in the field. If we can help farmers and operators achieve more practical, versatile and efficient ways of getting the job done, then we will have delivered on what we set out to achieve,” concludes Hendrik.
“We extend a warm welcome to Hendrik and his team,” says Eric. “We are excited to begin this journey with Hekson in serving agricultural customers across Mpumalanga, and we look forward to cultivating this partnership and building the mutual success of our businesses.”
