A major expansion is underway in multiple segments in the country. Aquaculture production jumped by 183% during the past 5 years from 30,000 tons to 85,000 tons. During the same period, broiler chickens’ production grew to over 60% of domestic demand. Greenhouse’s production increased by 58% from 257,000 tons to about 407,000 tons. Organic food farming increased by 18% to 52.800 tons during the same period.

The Ministry of Environment Water & Agriculture has announced a great number of initiatives to expedite the achievement of Vision 2030 goals. The agricultural sector is a major contributor to GDP. The Agricultural and Food Industries sectors are one of the most important contributors in the development of the national economy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and meeting Vision 2030 goals and has a major role in achieving food security. The agricultural contribution to GDP amounted to about US$ 19.37 billion in 2022.

The 40th Saudi Agriculture 2023 is held from 23 – 26 October 2023, from 1:00 pm to 09:30 pm at the Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The 39th Edition, held from 17-20 October 2022, broke all previous records in exhibitor and visitor participation and confirmed it is the leading regional agricultural trade fair, With 18,224 sqm of exhibition Space, 257 Exhibitors, 09 Country Pavilions, 31 Participating Countries and 21,027 Visitors

In addition, 320 international exhibitors from 14 other Countries participated in local partner pavilions. It had set new records in exhibitors and visitors participation and created the largest gathering of agriculture industry stakeholders from around the Kingdom and the world, in Riyadh, the center of the largest and highest growth agriculture market in the region. The Trade Fair was opened by two distinguished Ministers: the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, His Excellency Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Fadley accompanied by the Minister of Investment H. E. Engr. Khalid Al Falih, who led the concurrently held MEWA Conference proceedings with their Ministerial Session highlighting the kingdom’s initiatives for the growth of the sector. In addition, participants were treated to the international Business Forum that presented the

latest growth sectors in the Kingdom and looked at the head of the role and initiatives of Agro Food

stakeholders in regard to the “Future of Food Security and its sustainability.
