Products which are specifically developed for Zambia’s agricultural conditions”

“Mechanisation is the key to the farming business of the 21st century and will definitely have positive effects like higher outputs, generate more income for the farmer itself and the society. When it comes to the buying of inputs and equipment, the label ‘Made in Germany’ is one that evokes perceptions of quality, efficiency and trust.” This is according to Martin Botzian, Head of Communication, DLG International GmbH, and conveners of the German pavilion at Agritech Expo Zambia taking place in Chisamba from 11-13 April 2019.

This year the event at GART is expected to bring more than 20 000 visitors from some 39 countries, over 220 local and international exhibitors, including international pavilions so far from Germany, China, Czech Republic, the European Union, Italy and the UK, with 3500 VIP and large scale farmers and 150 members of the media. Agritech Expo Zambia is free to attend for all visitors that pre-register.

The future of the Zambia farmer
The German pavilion has been part of the event since its inception six years ago, which “clearly shows our interest in the Zambian market and that of the exhibitors”, says Martin, adding “the country still has a stable policy environment, which means the government supports the agricultural sector and promotes commercial farming. We see contrary tendencies happening in South Africa or already in the past in Zimbabwe. Commercial or emerging farmers are more likely to invest in a country with stable policies. Zambia is still a good place to grow crops and raise animals. There is enough fresh water for irrigation.”

He continues: “Agritech Expo Zambia is indeed Zambia’s leading professional agriculture trade fair. A very solid agriculture platform in Zambia showcasing advanced farming mechanisation implements, seed varieties, plant protection and fertilizers, irrigation tools and animal husbandry equipment and much more… like solar technologies. Agritech Expo is contributing to the future of the Zambian farmer.” Read the full interview with Martin Botzian on the event website, click here.

Chinese pavilion
“The CNCIC has organised a Chinese delegation to participate in Agritech Expo Zambia” says Allen Li, Deputy Exhibition Department Manager at the China National Chemical Information Center (CNCIC). He adds: “the CNCIC is an authoritative provider with comprehensive service in chemical industry and relevant areas, including information consulting, exhibition and conference, E-commerce, IT service, publication, etc. This year, we’ll bring four to five Chinese top class, high-tech agrochemical manufacturers in our pavilion and present their brand products which are specifically developed for Zambia’s agricultural conditions.”

Industry support
As in previous years, Agritech Expo enjoys extensive support from the agri industry with well-known suppliers Agriserve, SARO and Zamseed already confirmed as gold sponsors.

Multi-award winning Agritech Expo
Last year Agritech Expo Zambia won the AAXO ROAR award for Best Africa Bound Trade & Consumer Exhibition in the 12000+ sqm category at the AAXO ROAR Organiser and Exhibitor Awards in Johannesburg which honour excellence in the exhibition and events industry on the continent. In 2017 the event also won for Best Trade & Consumer Exhibition 12000+ sqm and for Distinction in Social Responsibility.

The expo has an outreach programme at the local Golden Valley Basic School, where, with the assistance of numerous event sponsors, it is assisting the school with much needed infrastructure upgrades, equipment supplies and management of the school’s farm.

Agritech Expo Zambia is owned by the Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU) and is organised by Spintelligent, leading Cape Town-based trade exhibition and conference organiser, and the African office of Clarion Events Ltd, based in the UK.
