As a leading supplier of livestock housing equipment for the agricultural sector, WEDA Dammann & Westerkamp of Lutten presents the new Be.Fit exercise farrowing pen for sows and piglets. The pen has been designed in accordance with the latest standards in pig farming and combines animal welfare requirements with practical functionality.
The Be.Fit pen is characterised not least by its well-thought-out ergonomics: low walls along the aisle provide an excellent view of the animals, whilst the piglet nest is positioned directly next to the aisle. This makes monitoring the animals considerably easier and allows the farmer to access the piglets easily without having to enter the pen. “Above all, this saves time and reduces stress for the animals,” explains Anselm Schumann, Sales Manager at WEDA.
One of its key advantages is its ease of use: the piglet protection cage can be swivelled with one hand and opened and closed in seconds. A quick-release fastener locks the cage in place with minimal effort, significantly simplifying work processes. The trapezoidal movement area also reduces the risk of piglets being crushed.
The pen dimensions can be customised, allowing farmers to adapt the Be.Fit flexibly to their operational requirements and current animal welfare regulations. The simple modular design enables quick assembly and allows for future extensions if required.
With the Be.Fit pen, WEDA Dammann & Westerkamp supports farmers in setting up their farms in an animal-friendly and future-proof manner – a practical solution that balances functionality and animal welfare.
