Uganda to unveil locally-made farm truck which can transport produce, pump water and generate electricity

Uganda through the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation to unveil a locally manufactured truck that can transport farm goods, pump water as well as produce electricity during the country’s Independence Day celebrations on Monday.

The farm vehicle named Bingwa features a remarkably efficient 0.8-liter two-stroke engine engineered to deliver outstanding power-to-weight performance.

It is three-wheeler truck with a versatile capacity, capable of carrying up to 1,000 kilograms of goods, pumping an impressive 6,000 liters of water per hour for irrigation purposes, and generating six kilowatts of electricity every hour.

According to Dr. Monica Musenero, the Minister for Science and Innovation, the unvailin g will be done by Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni at Kitgum District as part of Uganda’s 61st Independence Day festivities.

“On Independence Day, we will unveil our locally made truck, which serves three essential functions: water pumping, electricity generation for households and basic welding, and transportation of produce.” Ms. Musenero

She emphasized that the innovation addresses critical household challenges, recognizing their significance in promoting economic development.

The truck was built by a group of youth innovators from Kibuye under Kevoton Motions Engineering Ltd, an incubation of Kiira Motors which also provides it support.
