Mwea, Kirinyaga County – Day One of the Agitech Expo in Mwea attracted hundreds of farmers keen to discover practical, science-led innovations to boost crop productivity and profitability.
The Expo, which has become a key knowledge-sharing platform for farmers in the Mt. Kenya region, saw strong farmer engagement across Syngenta’s crop programmes covering tomato, coffee, maize, potato and rice — value chains critical to food security and farmer incomes.
Farmers had the opportunity to interact directly with Syngenta agronomists and explore the company’s latest generation solutions, including Miravis® Duo, Orondis® Ultra and Vixeran®, complemented by trusted, proven brands in the portfolio such as Quadris®, Revus®, Servian®, Ampligo® and Pegasus®, among others.
Central to the sessions was the emphasis on responsible resistance management and sustainable farming practices. Experts underscored the importance of correct product rotation, application timing, and integrated crop management to maintain product efficacy, protect the environment, and ensure healthier crops and stronger, more consistent harvests.
Farmers showed strong curiosity for the new molecules, particularly their role in disease control, pest management and improved nutrient use efficiency, with many seeking tailored, practical recommendations to address field challenges and elevate yields.
Speaking at the event, Syngenta agronomists noted that innovation must be paired with stewardship: “Our goal is to ensure farmers not only have access to world-class solutions, but also the knowledge to use them responsibly for long-term productivity.
