The 19 winning models of the ‘Technical Innovations’ competition were unveiled at Palazzo Re Enzo and will be on display in the Quadriportico area of the Bologna Exhibition Centre during EIMA International (from Tuesday 10 to Saturday 14 November). A further 35 technologies have been selected by the expert jury as ‘Technical Evolution’. The technological potential of the agricultural machinery industry offers a response to the challenges facing agriculture globally. The awards ceremony for the ‘Novità Tecniche’ competition took place this afternoon in the historic setting of Palazzo Re Enzo in Bologna. This prestigious award is presented by an international jury of experts to the most innovative technical solutions showcased at EIMA International.
The ceremony serves as an exclusive preview of the major agricultural machinery exhibition organised by FederUnacoma, which takes place in the Emilian capital from 10 to 14 November and which, as usual, hosts the static display of all innovations designated as ‘Technical Innovations’ in the Quadriportico area. Over the five days of the event – which, for the first time, runs from Tuesday to Saturday – a total of 19 models selected by the jury as original applications of high technological content will be on display. As part of the competition – in addition to the ‘Technical Innovations’ proper – a further 35 models have been recognised with the ‘Technical Evolution’ award, which is granted for original improvements to products that have already been manufactured or patented.
“Agricultural machinery has always been a highly innovative sector. Technological innovation, however, is a revolution that is sometimes invisible because – as FederUnacoma President Mariateresa Maschio stated – it often consists of details: unassuming devices that nevertheless guarantee a qualitative leap in farmers’ work.
Today’s event is designed precisely to bring innovation back into the spotlight and to highlight its full value.” From AI-based safety systems to digital platforms for the remote management of irrigation systems, from smart lawnmowers to hybrid power systems, right through to next-generation agricultural equipment, EIMA International’s ‘Technical Innovations’, along with all 60,000 models on display at the fair (representing 14 product categories), best showcase the technological potential of the sector.
“The agricultural sector faces highly complex challenges linked to the increase in global food demand and the need to preserve natural resources, mitigate the risks of climate change and prevent soil degradation. “The answer to all this,” added Simona Rapastella, General Manager of the Federation’ , “lies precisely in the technological potential of the sector and in an event such as EIMA, where innovation is much more than a competitive factor; it is a tool for ‘shaping’ the future.”
The event was also attended by Michele Mattetti, full professor of agricultural mechanics at the University of Bologna and Delegate for the Third Mission of the Department of Agri-Food Sciences and Technologies, as well as a member of the ‘Technical Innovations’ competition committee. Professor Mattetti’s speech focused on the importance of synergies between the manufacturing sector and universities in the field of research, and on models of collaboration between companies and universities.
