Creating Measurable Value for Egg Producers
Genetic progress must ultimately translate into stronger flock performance and measurable value for the producer.
Current genetic progress translates into approximately four additional hen-housed eggs per year, while requiring around five grams less feed per dozen eggs produced over a 100-week production cycle. These improvements directly support increased egg output and improved feed efficiency—key drivers of profitability.
Using estimated egg and feed values, Hy-Line calculates that these annual improvements generate approximately $0.50 of additional value per commercial layer housed. For producers operating in competitive markets, these incremental gains can make a significant difference to the bottom line.
