A chemical and power free Australian water treatment system is helping food producers around the world boost yields, improve quality and keep production on track by solving water problems such as salinity, iron, corrosion and calcium-scale.
Australian company DELTAwater solutions manufactures a customised range of water treatment systems developed from more than 30 years of in-field research. Using powerful magnetics, water treatment systems are customised based on results from the company’s water testing and advisory service, DELTAwater LABS.
Barnsmuir Farm owner Tim Stockwell in the United Kingdom contacted DELTAwater due to problems caused by high salinity in bore water used on soft fruit crops including strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries.
“In recent years we have struggled with the health and yield of new strawberry varieties in particular, and I came across DELTAwater solutions after extensive research in the UK where I couldn’t find a water treatment product that could specifically address the problem,” Tim said.
“We saw a noticeable difference in the yield and health of the strawberries after installing our first DELTA and went ahead and ordered eight more.

Potato, clover seed and lucerne irrigator Mark Pridham turned to DELTAwater solutions in 2009 to tackle bore water quality issues including calcium-scale, salinity and iron. His bore water has high levels of calcium carbonate, iron and sodium chloride.
While crop rotations and added organic matter and clay helped counteract resulting soil problems, Mark turned to DELTAwater solutions as another way to boost his crops.
“Straight away the infiltration improved, the water was soaking in a lot better on our undulating country with less run off and rutting in the wheel tracks,” Mark says.
His confidence in the DELTAwater treatment system has resulted in installing more units, with almost 100% of his land now irrigated with DELTA-treated bore water.
Despite summer temperatures up to 45 degrees and low rainfall seasons, Mark’s clover and potato crops watered by DELTA-treated water continue to return solid yields.
“The water conditioners have also helped reduce the scale build-up in pipes and friction loss. We’ve broken the surface tension of the water so we’re getting very good penetration in the soil too.”
