Held after the COVID-19 lockdown hiatus, the 2022 NAMPO Harvest Day was a groundbreaking success that exceeded  expectations. The 2023 event is even bigger and better.

With South Africa facing a food security crisis and in urgent need of innovative farming methods, the significance of The NAMPO Harvest Day cannot be overstated. The event is the SADC’s region’s agricultural sector’s most relevant platform and marketplace for innovation, technology, information exchange and discussion.

 The theme

Themed “Agriculture Innovated“, The 2023 NAMPO Harvest Day is several notches higher with the latest technology, machinery, innovation and productivity solutions scheduled. The theme underscores Harvest Day’s positive role and its contribution to the future of agriculture.

 The role

Dr Dirk Strydom, Grain SA’s NAMPO, Marketing & Research Development Lead, defines NAMPO Day’s role: “NAMPO plays an important role in developing the agricultural sector by providing a successful environment for business and producers to interact and do business. It gathers all Agri-role players which present their products and services in the areas of production, machinery, food-processing, inputs as well as other products and services related to the sector. NAMPO is also the place where producers meet. It is the only trade show that brings together agricultural solutions for all types of farms and crops.”

The Nation in Conversation

Most critical and relevant considering the challenges the country is facing is The Nation in Conversation segment. The Nation in Conversation popular discussion forum brings together role players in the agricultural sector to reflect on issues, locally and internationally. Filmed during NAMPO and accommodating approximately 80 guests in the audience, the discussions are streamed live on various platforms.

The livestock division includes cattle, sheep, pigs, and goats, representing almost 100% of the large- and small-stock breeds, as well as miniature horses.

Overwhelming support

The event returned with a bang in 2022, following a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19-enforced lockdown. The overwhelming support of the NAMPO 2023 demonstrates the unflagging confidence that stakeholders have in the agricultural sector.
