InteliGro, a provider of integrated crop solutions, and CropWatch Africa, a crop monitoring and pest surveillance specialist, have partnered to bring a precision farming platform to the South African market.

The user-friendly platform enables farmers to consolidate on-farm data into actionable visual reports that they can use to make faster and better decisions.

The InteliGro / CropWatch platform allows farmers to bring together pest-monitoring data, GPS and GIS visualisations, information about soil, leaf and yields, spray instructions, satellite images, and more on a single system.

This gives them a near-real time view of the status of their crops and land as well as insight into historical trends. In turn, this helps farmers to intervene quickly and precisely in urgent issues such as pest infestations as well as to improve farm planning and management.

Says Roedolf Nieuwenhuis, Founder and Managing Director – CropWatch Africa “Our platform, which we developed over the past couple of years with farmer inputs offers Southern African farmers a highly customisable precision agriculture solution that is tailored to local market conditions as an alternative to internationally sourced solutions that can be complex to customise. It is an all-in-one integrated platform that that enables the farmer to monitor farm status and use powerful reporting tools to analyse up-to-the-minute data.”

InteliGro offers farmers an integrated crop management solution that spans their needs from soil rectification and nutrition to crop protection and biocontrol. The combination of InteliGro and CropWatch Africa’s expertise and technology enables farmers to use data as a powerful tool for optimising yields and ensuring quality crop production. The platform also allows farmers to assign tasks to workers in response to monitoring information, enhancing efficiency.

Niel Kruger, Marketing Director at InteliGro, says: “Against the backdrop of a lot of different challenges that farmers face on a daily basis, South African farmers also face the challenge of producing more from less while maintaining high quality standards and containing costs. Technology in agriculture is key to optimising use of resources, and increasing yields.

“Our partnership with CropWatch Africa enables farmers to integrate various aspects of their farm on one platform to get a more holistic view of their business. The rich data they can access simplifies the monitoring and management of crops over large areas. With actionable insights at their fingertips, farmers can increase productivity and optimise costs across their farms.”

He adds: “Monitoring is already an established practice in various crop segments, and is gaining traction as the foundation of integrated crop management. Our joint platform enables farmers to use a range of information such as satellite imagery, weather data and application information for better informed decision-making and record keeping.”
