EOS Data Analytics (EOSDA), a global provider of AI-powered satellite imagery analytics, has announced a partnership with Complete Farmer, a Ghana-based demand-driven digital agriculture platform that enables users to own and manage their farms digitally as well as buy and sell quality farm produce without intermediaries.
EOS Data Analytics and Complete Farmer’s partnership will contribute to the precision agriculture development in the African region by spreading the word about the value of satellite technology in everyday farming activities.
According to the McKinsey analysis, around 23 percent of sub-Saharan Africa’s gross domestic product is generated by agriculture. This input comes mostly from smallholder farmers, which make up about 60 percent of the sub-Saharan population. As the number of small and medium-size farms is growing, increasing their productivity could significantly improve African countries’ economic conditions. However, quite few farmers are ready to implement the best practices that precision agriculture technologies offer.
The main goal of the new partnership is to establish Complete Farmer and EOSDA leadership with regard to innovation and technology in the African agricultural market. To meet this target, the partners will highlight Complete Farmer’s use of precision farming technology that helps improve cost-effectiveness, increase crop yields, and give growers on its platform a competitive advantage. Also, the companies will stress EOSDA’s role in this initiative as a provider of satellite-powered analytics.
Furthermore, the companies intend to win over more global buyers for Ghana’s agricultural market in general and Complete Farmer’s platform in particular by promoting cutting-edge farming technologies and emphasizing their value for African agriculture development.
‘EOSDA is delighted to have the opportunity to work with Complete Farmer to serve the demand of the local community. We strongly believe in partnering up with local representatives who understand the daily struggles and needs of the farmers. This builds a strong foundation for this partnership, as it provides solutions that are specifically tailored to suit those needs. With this in mind, we are looking forward to expanding this project across the country and hoping to take it a step further by attracting the attention of operating NGOs, who are able to provide even more coverage in rural areas,’ says Rim Elijah, VP of Sales at EOS Data Analytics.
‘Complete Farmer’s mission is to use innovative technologies to disrupt the agriculture value chain in Africa. With this partnership with EOSDA, we are building the infrastructure that allows farmers to be competitive and improves transparency across the value chain. This partnership creates the enabling environment to build solutions that solve the core problems for farmers and stakeholders across the value chain. We are excited by the prospects of the partnership and looking forward to the solutions that are birthed from it,’ adds Chelsea Nzenwa, Marketing Manager at Complete Farmer.
Complete Farmer and EOS Data Analytics believe that the employment of field monitoring capabilities in daily farming activities will significantly increase crop yield and improve its quality.
These changes will entail yield outcome growth, which will positively impact the entire agricultural sector economy in the Ghana region and throughout the whole African continent. Adhering to this idea, EOS Data Analytics plans to expand its partner network to Ethiopia, Kenya, Togo, and neighboring countries by the end of the year.
