The Borlaug Global Rust Initiative (BGRI), a global community of hunger fighters is inviting applications for Jeanie Borlaug Laube Women in Triticum (WIT) 2024 awards honoring outstanding early-career scientists engaged in wheat research.
Named after Jeanie Borlaug Laube, an influential advocate for women in agriculture and daughter of Nobel laureate Dr. Norman Borlaug, the WIT awards seeks to acknowledge excellence and leadership among scientists in the initial stages of their careers.
Recipients of the 2024 awards will benefit from advanced leadership and scientific training for wheat research, supported by the BGRI and the Accelerating Genetic Gains in Maize and Wheat (AGG) project led by the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT).
Since their establishment in 2010, these awards have recognized 70 deserving individuals worldwide with exemplary accomplishments in their early-career in wheat research.
The WIT Award not only acknowledges outstanding accomplishments but also serves as a platform to amplify the voices of those advancing wheat science.

Eligibility
The award is intended for early-career scientists ranging from advanced undergraduates to recent PhD graduates and post-doctoral fellows. Priority is given to applicants at the pre-professoriate level.
The applicants are assessed based on their strength of scientific abstract, commitment to and passion for agricultural development, leadership potential, and quality of written statement of intent.
