Agricultural Manufacturing Group donates towards 2021 Farmers' Day in Ghana

The Agricultural Manufacturing Group (AMG), has donated a cheque for GHc 20, 000 to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA), towards the celebration of the 2021 National Farmers’ Day.

Presenting the cheque, the Sales and Marketing Manager of AMG Fertilisers, Mr. Isaac Berchie, said the company was annually associated with the National Farmers’ Day celebrations and is committed to supporting the development, promotion, and recognition of farmers through these celebrations for the long term.

“AMG Fertilisers is very proud of the Ministry’s effort over the past 37 years, in celebrating and boosting the image of Farmers, as they put food on our tables all year round. This is why AMG Fertlisers has also over the years, manufactured and marketed high quality and efficient fertiliser brands, which are very popular and well patronised by farmers all over the country. This has contributed to the success of farmers in producing high yields and bumper harvest,” said Mr. Berchie said.

Receiving the cheque on behalf of the Ministry, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, who also serves as the Chairman of Farmers’ Day Planning Committee, Yaw Frimpong Addo, expressed his immense gratitude for the financial support and called on all Ghanaians, agribusinesses, and corporate bodies in the country to join the Ministry to celebrate the country’s hardworking farmers, adding that, this year’s event has been designed to consolidate gains made from the government’s flagship agriculture programme, PFJ.

Since it was introduced by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in 1988, the first Friday in December has been set aside to honour farmers and fishermen for their efforts in feeding the nation and recognise the vital contributions of a strong agricultural sector to the prosperity of the Ghanaian economy.

A programme of activities takes place to mark the day including prizes which are awarded to deserving farmers and fishers in order of best practices and outputs. A National Farmers Forum takes place at which the award winners can meet policymakers and experts on technological advances in the agricultural sector and also make their views known.
