Savanna Agri Chains sources, processes and exports shea butter and baobab, natural ingredients used in skincare and food. Founded in 2016 and led by Julius Awaregya, the company works with more than 1,000 women who harvest across 22 districts in Northern Ghana. The company is certified by EcoCert SAS (NOP & EOS) enabling export of natural organic products into the Americas & European countries, as well as by ‘Regenified’ confirming that its farming practices actively restore the land, alongside organic and wild-harvest certifications.
Savanna has demonstrated positive revenue growth in the last three years, being able to double its revenue between 2023 and 2025. The company now seeks investment to grow its operational footprint, which will increase their procurement coverage from 22 to 40 districts in Ghana and expand to Central South Region in Burkina Faso as well as increase the number of collectors and aggregators from 2,800 to 7,000 impacting their households livelihoods positively.
Savanna was chosen for its genuine environmental impact: restoring land using methods such as natural composting and better water use, while steadily growing its sales and supporting a supply chain almost entirely run by women. NFIL’s support will help Savanna get its finances and paperwork in order, formalise how the company is run, and prepare it to raise the money it needs to centralize its operations and upgrade its processing equipment so more of the value it generates can be captured locally.
