Roeslein Renewables today announced that its founder and board chairman, Rudi Roeslein, has been awarded the prestigious Excellence in Bioenergy Award at the 2026 International Biomass Conference & Expo. In addition to this recognition, Roeslein served as a keynote speaker at the conference, held April 1 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

The award, presented by BBI International and Biomass Magazine, recognizes Roeslein’s decades-long leadership in renewable energy development, conservation, and industrial innovation. He was honored alongside Alicia Gibson and Cold Steppe Inc. as part of the conference’s annual awards program celebrating significant contributions to the bioenergy industry.

“I’m honored to accept the Excellence in Bioenergy Award, but there is a lot of work still ahead,” Mr. Roesleien said “My vision has always been at the intersection of a simple Venn diagram where wildlife, ecosystems, and energy come together. When those systems are aligned, we can restore soil health, improve water quality, strengthen rural economies, and produce renewable energy at scale. We’ve shown it works. Now it’s about continuing to build, partner, and stay focused on delivering strong outcomes.”

Roeslein founded Roeslein & Associates in 1990, building the firm into a global leader in engineering, procurement and construction. He later established Roeslein Renewables to advance renewable natural gas production and anaerobic digestion technologies, converting agricultural and industrial waste into clean energy and sustainable co-products. His work has demonstrated how environmental stewardship and economic growth can advance together at scale, particularly through prairie restoration and land conservation initiatives.

“Each year, these awards recognize the people and projects pushing the biomass industry forward,” said Anna Simet, Director of Content at BBI International and Senior Editor of Biomass Magazine. “This year’s honorees reflect the innovation, determination, and real-world impact that continue to drive bioenergy forward.”

The International Biomass Conference & Expo, held March 31 through April 2, convenes industry leaders, project developers, technology providers, and policymakers to explore advancements across biomass power, thermal energy, fuels, and biobased products. As a keynote speaker, Roeslein shared insights on scaling renewable energy solutions, integrating conservation practices, and advancing the future of sustainable energy systems
