Wacker Neuson South Africa, trusted provider of light and compact equipment engineered for efficiency across the agriculture, construction, mining and forestry industries, proudly welcomes Overberg Agri to its expanding dealer network in the Western Cape.

“With its diverse agricultural activities, the Western Cape presents a strategic growth region where farmers and contractors rely on efficient, reliable and versatile machinery to support planting, harvesting and on-farm construction tasks,” states Stefan le Roux, Wacker Neuson Managing Director – Sub-Saharan Africa. “Recognising these needs, we appointed Overberg Agri as an additional Wacker Neuson dealer in the province, reflecting a deliberate strategy to strengthen our regional presence, expand our footprint and reinforce our commitment to meeting the needs of this dynamic sector.”

“Overberg Agri’s deep knowledge of the Western Cape’s agricultural landscape, customer‑centric approach and proven service capability seamlessly fulfilled all our selection criteria, giving us confidence that our objectives – enhancing local customer support, expanding access to Wacker Neuson’s compact equipment and delivering a trusted partner experience across sales and after‑sales service – will be fully realised,” observes Stefan. “It is about expanding our footprint and, in equal measure, connecting our innovative and reliable machinery with a team that truly understands the market, the people, the challenges and ‘what it takes’ to support those operations effectively. By pairing our technology with Overberg Agri’s insight and trust in the community to create a true partnership built for shared success, this collaboration embodies our brand promise, ‘All It Takes.

With administrative offices in Caledon and core footprint spanning the Overberg, Southern Cape and Swartland regions, Overberg Agri serves key farming areas in the Western, Eastern and Northern Cape and Limpopo, sustaining diverse agricultural enterprises across South Africa.

Overberg Agri’s origins trace back to two of the oldest Western Cape farmer co‑operatives – Caledon Boeren Co‑operative and Bredasdorp Boeren Co‑operative Society (founded in 1918 and 1926 respectively). Following their conversion to companies in the late 1990s, CRK Landbou and BNK Landbou merged in 2005 to form Overberg Agri Limited. In 2018, Overberg Agri became part of the Acorn Agri & Food Group and is today the Group’s largest subsidiary. Throughout its history, Overberg Agri’s founding objective remain consistent: To support producers through trusted partnerships by providing quality agricultural products, services, advice and long‑term business solutions. This ethos is reflected in Overberg Agri’s integrated agricultural solutions spanning finance, insurance, production inputs, mechanisation, irrigation, structures and netting, advisory services, grain storage and trading, seed production, packaging, fuel and retail. Deeply rooted in the rural communities it serves, Overberg Agri is actively involved in local schools, agricultural initiatives and community development, underpinning the company’s purpose of helping producers maximise return on every investment while contributing to sustainable agricultural growth.

Wacker Neuson’s relationship with Overberg Agri began several years ago, built through mutual engagements in the agricultural sector and shared values of quality, reliability and customer focus. Discussions commenced in August 2025, and with both parties recognising the opportunity to expand Wacker Neuson’s footprint in the Western Cape while supporting Overberg Agri’s ambition to diversify its product offering with high‑quality equipment, the agreement was formalised a month later.

“We are delighted to welcome Wacker Neuson into the Overberg Agri mechanisation portfolio, a partnership that meaningfully strengthens our offering,” comments the company’s Mechanisation Manager, Etienne van Wyk. “Our partnership decision was guided by Wacker Neuson’s global reputation for quality, innovation, reliability, proven performance in demanding environments and long‑term customer relationships which mirrors our own values.”

Overberg Agri’s initial Wacker Neuson offering includes the full compact range of excavators, wheel loaders, and telehandlers, carefully selected for their proven suitability across agriculture, construction and infrastructure projects, from material handling to earthmoving tasks. “This complementary product range enhances our capabilities in compact earthmoving, materials handling and infrastructure development equipment, enabling us to deliver a broader, more comprehensive solution to customers.” Etienne adds that as the partnership develops, they will continue to evaluate opportunities and expand the offering in line with customer demand and market requirements. “There are plans to introduce selected electric models, including the EZ17e, reflecting our strategy to support customers with sustainable, efficient, future‑focused solutions.”

Overberg Agri’s Mechanisation Division operates from full‑service branches, each comprising a showroom, workshop and engineering division, in Caledon, Bredasdorp and Moorreesburg, with an additional showroom in Grabouw. “Our investment in fully equipped workshops, skilled technicians and mobile service units, combined with strategic stockholding of fast‑moving spare parts, underscores our commitment to providing in‑house and on‑site after‑sales service, maintenance and repair of Wacker Neuson machines across our operational footprint,” affirms Etienne.

He considers Wacker Neuson’s comprehensive training offering key to keeping sales consultants, technicians and service teams up to date with the latest product developments and evolving technologies by equipping them with technical knowledge and practical skills. “Training includes visits to the Wacker Neuson Training Academy in Johannesburg as well as sessions held at our branches. We place strong emphasis on proactive maintenance, efficient diagnostics and structured service processes to keep customers’ operations running optimally by providing swift resolutions and achieve quick turnaround times to maximise uptime and productivity. Initial product familiarisation and technical training have already commenced, with further structured training programmes planned for our sales, service and technical teams. We will in turn provide operator training to customers to ensure safe, efficient and optimal equipment use.”

Wacker Neuson Training Manager, Lumé Joubert, weighs in on their robust, structured training portfolio: “Typically valid for two years, our programmes, which cover machine specifications, sales techniques, operator instruction, technical expertise and service support, fully equip dealers to deliver excellence at every stage. Update sessions are offered once certificates expire, with training also available on demand for newly appointed personnel.”

“By combining Wacker Neuson’s globally recognised, proven equipment and established presence in the Western Cape with our extensive footprint and service network, the collaboration unlocks opportunities to broaden market reach while continuing to back customers with versatile, high‑quality solutions. Paired with Wacker Neuson’s commitment to dealer support, technical training and after‑sales excellence, the partnership stands as a natural strategic fit for Overberg Agri and our customer base.”

Etienne and Stefan share the same mindset: “Together, these collaborative strengths drive continued growth for both organisations and create lasting value for customers, assuring them that their investment is backed by a world‑class manufacturer and a trusted local partner. Partnering with Overberg Agri marks an exciting milestone for Wacker Neuson in the Western Cape. The synergies between our organisations ensure that we can deliver a complete customer experience tailored to the agricultural sector. We are confident that this partnership, which supports our goal of delivering solutions that enable customers to succeed, will benefit Wacker Neuson and Overberg Agri while equipping the Western Cape’s agricultural community with the resources and knowledge to drive sustainable growth well into the future.”

The agreement marks the start of a strategic partnership between Wacker Neuson and Overberg Agri, bringing greater access to world-class equipment, expert support and innovative solutions for agricultural customers across the Western Cape.
